It all started with a room where you could focus on the music and the words.

You sit a few steps from the singers with a glass of wine in your hand, and before each song the singers tell you what the poem says, in Portuguese and in English.

A Fado singer in a sparkling black dress, her hands together, standing before the gilded frame on the wine-red wall of our Baixa room in Lisbon

An evening of Fado with us

Many Fado houses in Lisbon are restaurants, with the singing between courses. Ours isn’t one: there’s no kitchen, and the concert is the whole evening. Nothing comes between you and the singers, so you hear everything: the breath before a line, the guitars answering the voice, the room going quiet when someone starts to sing.
